| Recent experimental results reveal a large diversity of neuronal anatomy, synaptic dynamics and membrane physiology within the GABAergic system of the neocortex. By incorporating combinations of specifically-tuned M-type, A-type, and calcium-dependent potassium (AHP) channels in a custom neocortical compartmental emulation platform, we were able to replicate published in vitro responses to 1-second current steps ranging from 50 to 350 pA. In addition, we hypothesized a "SIC" channel to account for certain physiological subtypes. Our results show the importance of subthreshold activating channels to capture the physiological properties of GABAergic cells. | |
